Post where is img src= for {avatar}? Reply with quote
As you can see I'm working hard on my new video media site. Everything is going very well and working flawlessly as I had planned from the start. My site is at www.flixrating.com in case you'd like to see what I'm talking about. The only thing that I'd like to be able to do that I can't seem to figure out.. is put put a border around the images that link to the full story. The way I have it set up is <a href="{link=home/post}">{avatar}</a> and I put the URL to the avatar in each post which then generates that lovely little preview of the image that looks like it's in some little handheld game window haha. But anyway.. I think you see what I'm referring to here by now. I'd like to go in the cutenews.ru files somewhere and edit the code so it will permanently make {avatar} <img border=1 src="{avatar}"> rather than <img src="{avatar}"> so that the 1 pixel border around the image will be affected my my pages overall text rollovers... This'll make a nice blue square around the image and when the mouse touches it the whole square will turn red. I just don't know where to look. Maybe I'm looking too hard. Is there a simpler way? Any suggestions? I'll keep myself busy in the meantime.

Find this in inc/show.news.php:

Quote:
$output = str_replace('{avatar}', ($row['avatar'] ? '<img src="'.$row['avatar'].'" alt="" border="0" align="absmiddle">' : ''), $output);

ha i realize now i have all these images that are too big for my css ideas on www.itsgamertime.com and i used this same spot to change their height and width so new images and old look the same. cool for forcing images to fit a template or look Smile im so happy

i wonder though.. is it possible to have another file like show.news2.php where i could have it not force the image sizes smaller just in case i had the main news cropped smaller and then the full story or a different news page including them with the regular size. kinda like templates but just so i can customize how {avatar} is displayed differently. i was trying to find if show_news.php is where it asked for show.news.php and I was going to make show.news2.php how i needed it and make show_news2.php and included on my page for the news. then show_news2.php would point to the new show.news2.php file and display {avatar} the other way. am i making sense? i think im on to something but i think show_news.php file is not what i should be looking in. i'll keep hunting.

--- okay i found it and it almost works lol.. that's as far as i've got. i noticed show.inc.php refers to show.news.php so i made it refer to show.inc2.php. then i saw that show_news.php refers to show.inc.php so i saved the modified show.inc.php as show.inc2.php. then i made index.php include("show_news.php") and index2.php include("show_news2.php"). they seem to confuse each other though. if i delete either of the modified show.inc.php files then the {avatar} shows up perfect on the page i wanted to modify.. but the other news page says it can't find that file (understandably). but when they are both on it seems it either loads one way or the other. not a big deal i'll figure something out i just thought my trial and error process was interesting.
