haha of course that would be the only example. Well, if that's the only example.. as much of a brilliant individual as I credit Lexa for being.. his website doesn't catch my eye and make me think ooh wow that CMS grabs me by the balls and makes me just need to download a copy. I guess it's all of our faults for not downloading it and making sites with it.. but I'm personally so happy with cnr I don't really want to start over with a new cms. Can't we just keep expounding on this one? CNR254 is amazing and can only get better.
2 things cnr needs.. I just can't figure it out. 1) multiple word search that works with templates 2) ability for feed import to capture mRSS (media RSS) or tags such as <media:thumbnail url="URL">
That's it. Those 2 things really could make this script the best.

Well us, the faithful CNR community should look into, and copy, new Strawberry features, so as to not lag behind.
Things such as integration with PunBB (or any other major forum) (someone spotted some source intending to do this in strawberry), should be made possible for CNR aswell.
In addition to keeping up with Strawberry's features, we should really get a CNR portal up and running (of course running on cnr), with search able code database, themes, plug-ins, etc.

I will start by saying I do not know whats involved with PHP scripting, but couldnt CNR be converted to PHP5 to keep up with the times.

Well.. all the information is available to make it php5 ready so I suppose someone should apply those changes and upload it as the new version of Cutenews.ru but my server uses php4 so I haven't taken the time to figure out how to make it php5 ready. If someone does that I'll add it to the downloads section.. or FI-DD will take care of it. But, if he doesn't have time, tell me what to do and I'll make it happen. You are right though, it needs to be PHP5 ready or else we're going to lose a lot of future cutenews.ru enthusiasts due to frustration.

Well, at the moment i have... i guess 4 sites running on php5 servers. And all are running without problems. In the beginning i was dealing with several php4 shizzles. But most of them were located in the .mdu of .ini files.
Those were pretty much easy to solve. Till this far everthing looks ok with php5. So, i'm not that afraid at the moment for cnr's future.

I can't believe that GoDaddy is still supporting PHP 4 for those that want to continue using it. I haven't run into any php 5 issues.. I do think cnr 2.5.4 is getting a bit out-dated and there needs to be a 2.5.5 but I think there's kind of misguided direction in what needs updated for the next downloadable version.

CNR 2.5.4 was released over 2 years ago. I constantly updated the file whenever I made changes to the script. So compared to the first release there are so many changes in the version that it must be at least 2.5.8

Almost a month later...
Maybe we should treat it as such? CNR is distributed under the GNU-GPL, so it's legimite to fork it. Only make sure Lexa doesn't have a problem with the use of the name 'CuteNewsRu'-name, or we'll have to make up a new name (would be a shame considering the domain).
