What's that doing there? Check out the template of pagination and check if there is something wrong there...

Just checked the pagination for full story and I have nothing surrounding {pages} that would make an extra 1 pop up.
For what it's worth, that bolded 1 also shows up even if there's really only one page.

Also check the Pagination template. Maybe it's double...

Nope. The pagination controls the one for Active News which I tried trimming down anyways to see if it's responsible but no dice; it only acts up when you use {pages} on full story.
