Security bugs? Spam problem |
|
Hi
I'm getting a lot of spam on my domain. Do any of you know if there is possible for spam robots to use the code in Cuteru 2.5.4 to send out spam? Just trying to find the reason why I get this much spam. My host have shut down my site two times this year already.

Strange host. Your host is taking down your site because you get too many emails? How is your email traffic related to your site?

The spam have my domain as sender and the hosts ISP have told them to close it... Just wondering if it's releated to Cutenews. If not it must be PunBB.

There's no need to be related with either Cutenews or PunBB.
Take the following code:
Running this code you will get an email and you will believe it was sent by Bill Gates from Microsoft. Using php or other programming languages you are able to fake the sender as you like.
As soon as your domain gets popular spammers will notice it and use it to send fake emails.
As far as I know there's nothing you can do about it.

If you move hosts, check what kind of anti-spamsoftware they deliver on their servers by default.

Thanks for the answers. I'm switching host now. The one I was using didn't even seem to care to resolve the problem. Idiots. They told me that they would continue to close as long as there is a problem with spam. Also since I didn't have knowledge on how to fix this myself, that it should remain closed. Talk about not setting the customer first. Never coming back to that host anymore.

It sounds like they only plan to host small projects in hopes that they keep making money and the webmasters never get ahead. Once the webmasters start getting ahead they can't handle the traffic anymore. Probably a good idea that you've moved on. I can only recommend GoDaddy as a nice reliable host. They might not be the fastest but at least they've only been down a few hours total in the whole year and a few months I've had them.
Doesn't every single human on the planet (with the internet) get spam in one way or another? Why would they hold spam against you like it's your fault? You're right. Idiots.
