Post Private Messaging Reply with quote
With this plugin your users can send private messages (PM) to each other.

Features:

Every user can decide if he wants to receive messages or not which means he can activate or deactivate the service.

There are three mail boxes: inbox, outbox and savebox.

The inbox contains the messages you received.

The outbox contains unread messages you sent to another user. As long as the other user hasn't read the message you can delete it.

The savebox contains messages you've saved. When sending a new PM you can put a copy in the savebox or you can move a PM from your inbox to the savebox.

You can send a new PM to every user who has activated the service. Or you can send a PM by clicking the "Reply" button.

Admins can send PMs to all 4 user groups. If a member of a selected group didn't activate the service the message will be sent by email to this member if there is an email address available.

You can check out everything on the demo page: http://english.cutenews.ru/forum/index.php?f=3&forum_link=1

Update:

I added the possibility to get a mail on new messages. (See installation instructions.)

Installation:

1. To activate mail on new messages open private-messaging.php and find the last function at the end of the file. Set $mail_on_new_pm to true and change the mail text to your needs.

2. Just copy private-messaging.php to the plugins folder and private-messaging.ini to the inc/lang/en/plugins folder. Then activate it in the admin panel.

Enjoy! Smile

I tested it and Really wonderful!

but one question:

Why not activated by default? so each user can inactivate it any time he/she not needed?

and is it possible to change it activated by default? how?

lots of thanks

Post Two Problems Reply with quote
1. However the service is set to "activated" by default, but when you register or login you see it is inactive and instead, the "activate" buton is displayed.

2. If even it be activated by default, the problem exists that their is no body in users dropdown menu to send messages to unless somebody must has activated the service before.

Suggestion:

It is better the service be available by default and the user/users can access all users by dropdown menu or by searching usernames as in public forums. But for avoiding mail abuse, any body can inactivate it so dose not recieve any message or mail from others.

Thanks a lot.

That's exactly how it should be working now.

I guess it's not working for you because you installed the first version. And this first version created a new column in the users database with the default value of 0.

The new version is not able to change this. So you have to manually change the default value of the column "active" from 0 to 1. Then it should work for you too.

Cool, but it could be done by using DLEmulator plugin (for mysql only) & PM mod from Datalife Engine. Smile

P.S. My English are bad...

OK, I love this private messaging thing so much, I'm gonna push it all the way: is it possible to have some sort of an include so registered users can read their Private messages on the front page instead of the administrators panel? And to set limits to which level of priviliges can use it? i.e. a writer can use it but a commenter can't? In order to prevent flooding and stuff?

OK, I was serious; if it's possible to post news from outside the cutenews folder, like in http://english.cutenews.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2442#2442 then is it possible

to make a page identical to the one in the cutenews admin panel, but only in another file, another folder?

I'm intreseted in this aswell. I would like the personal settings page inside the main page and not on the admin part of the page if this is possible? As well showing showing the users avatar and nickname and number of comments etc. Would be awsome!
