Post Plugin • TinyFCK WYSIWYG Editor • Updated version 3.2.2 Reply with quote
Last update March 7th 2009

* New version available with a lot of fixe, improvements, Imagemanager and latest version of TinyMCE.
Read the lines below what's inside the updated TinyFCK Editor.

Took allmost a year to find some time to update some files here.
Mean while i tested a lot with different plugins and other possibilities with CNR and some of them are improved to work properly on most servers, latest third party versions and with the most recent version of CNR.

The TinyFCK editor is one of them. At least in my case. I've updated this WYSIWYG editor with the most recent version of TinyMCE, version 3.2.2 wich is released 5th of march 2009.
Is has many improvements and it solved a lot of strange issues when you're using it with Cutenews.RU
For example, youtube urls didn't render like it used to be (you can also use the Media button to add youtube movies), empty textareas won't add a linebreak <br/> anymore, faster loading of the toolbars of tinymce etc
This version of TinyFCK also communicates better with the default image manager of cutenews.ru
As far as i know there are no more problems with the data/upimages path because of the document_base_url : "/yourCNRpath/", line in tinyfck.php
Change yourCNRpath with your CNR folder. Well, nothing much to say about it. Should work straight out of the box, but better.

========================================================================================
Exclamation Usage:
========================================================================================

Arrow Download the .zip file.

Arrow Delete old TinyFCK files in the plugin folder of your CNR, or remove in case the newer version won't work for you.

Arrow Upload the tinyfck.php file in the plugin folder of CNR

Arrow Upload the tinyfck folder in the plugin folder of CNR

Arrow Go to Plugin options and activate the TinyFCK plugin. (clear your cache after that)

Arrow The editor should work from now.

Arrow It might happen, when you're going to Edit an article for the first time after the editor is installed, that you see characters like: {N} These stands for an 'Enter'. Just select them and replace them by giving an Enter (press Shift to make a linebreak of it, otherwise i'll make a <p> instead a <br/>) on your keyboard.

That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Good luck, but it should do it without any further information.
Im quite happy that i can use a decent editor from now on. Hope you will have the same happiness as i have.

Thnx for letting us in on this tip. Think I'm gonna try it out. Am currently succesfully running TinyMCE with a custom ajax file manager to upload files. (You might wanna check out my reply in the TinyMCE thread, I did manage to get the editor working, inside the width of the news posting areas, with almost all necessary options)

Edit:
Am I correct when stating the TinyFCK website seems to be offline? May I ask where you got your copy from? Thanks.

- Think i'd saw your reply in the TinyMCE topic and it's great that it's working for you. Beter have 10 possibilities to add an editor to CNR then none.
Maybe you could start a topic to of your version of TinyMCE with all necessary files to get it work. Because the version of this image/file manager is only compatible with the TinyMCE versions 2.xx as version 3 is allready up and running.

- That the TinyFCK site is down is correctly. I mentioned this also. Dunno why that is. Guess it became not compatible anymore with newer versions of TinyMCE.
I've got my copy somewhere from the internet. I read about it somewhere, searched for the latest release and downloaded it from a forum or something. Really have no clue anymore where that might have happened.

Cool did you just add this to the site? I don't think I noticed this before. I too have been trying and trying all sorts of different WYSIWYG editors and came out just wanting to rip my hair out and decided to just leave it alone. I'm eager to try this one out and report back.. but it might not be right away Razz I'm leaving it on my desktop as a reminder though.

I agree, clients will def enjoy an editor that reminds them of Word. Personally, I keep using the built in editor cause it loads so fast. I need speed! Does this load okay?

Hopefully someone can help me.

I've installed the editor, followed your instructions and activated the editor in the settings but I'm still seeing the old editor.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

That's strange, because the tinymce.php file, wich is located in the plugin folder, is allmost familiar with the one that FI-DD made for the regular TinyMCE.
Try to replace the editnews.mdu and addnews.mdu in the inc/mod/with the files i attached.
It must be visible, no doubt about that.

But i agree, some people/clients are soooo way toooo Nerdish. If you call the name 'Email' some of them will go dizzy about it.
So yeah, it's really a must have for those people to have a decent editor.
i hope it's working for you to.

* I'm flattered... do you really have a sticky note on your desk wich is saying... Dave's editor... install tonight?

just installed it with the GREAT INSTRUCTIONS!

No problems and it works like a CHARM.

One question. The default puts linebreaks in! Is there a way to have it default without!

I know about the FORMAT SWITCHER... but again. we are talking about trying to explain code to our clients... which we all know doesn't work that well...

GREAT JOB WITH THIS EDITOR! AMAZING!!

Haha I saw the date you added it but I didn't believe it.. that is pretty new lol I'll consider this an early birthday present. Good work.. although I still didn't try it. I'm pissed you beat me to it jk jk I'm glad there's lots of us working to make this cms the best.. I've been eh.. unsure of what web direction to go but I can't help but keep playing with the script cause when I want to make something sweet I want to know I have a really kick ass cnr distribution to install Smile

LOL no, I just downloaded the zip and it automatically goes to my desktop haha.. I mean adding a perfect wysiwyg editor to cnr is really a monumental step forward.. look how many different attempts are on this forum! And if you have it and working and love it eberswine, I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it too.

I remember that i was searching for this a while ago.
But i think that it's ok for me now. The default way of behaviour of tinymce is that it creates a <p> paragraph. Also by giving an enter. When you hold shift it makes a linebreak. For me it's a perfect way of typing. Loook here, it might give a sollution for you problem. If not... try google though.

I have messed around and found a good setting for both firefox and ie.

First goto:
../skins/default.css

Change this:
Code:
#title, #short, #full, #actions {
   width: 410px;
   border-right: solid 1px #f7f7f7;
   float: left;
   clear: both;
}

#short textarea, #full textarea {
   width: 400px;
   height: 150px;
}

#title input {
   width: 400px;
}

TO THIS:
Code:
#title, #short, #full, #actions {
   width: 6000px;
   border-right: solid 1px #f7f7f7;
   float: left;
   clear: both;
}

#short textarea, #full textarea {
   width: 600px;
   height: 150px;
}

#title input {
   width: 600px;
}

Then go to ../skins/default.skin.php

And change this:
Code:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="700">

To this:
Code:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="900">

This is the table size. I think this is the best setting.

You're right, I think the width should be pushed out too. Good work eberswine.. can't believe none of us haven't done that sooner.

Hey, can you take a screenshot so I can see what it looks like? What res do you run?
