Post Plugin • Lightbox Gallery 'MyGallery' Reply with quote
*Edit -> 20th March 2008

Plugin is downloadable from now on.
I've attached a new version. This one includes soms language files. Copy all files in the right folders of your CNR copy. Just look at it's structure in the zip file.
This file was added after the issues that the plugin wasn't shown up in the Options section.

This is an announcement for an upcoming, awesome plugin, totally compatible to manage from CNR.

A good friend of mine has done it! Sidtheduck! Dude, you're the best!

I mostly develop websites wich has a photo gallery. All options to create a gallery inside by CNR didnt satisfied me.
So there for i always used this third party gallery:
Code:
http://www.planetluc.com/en/demo/mygallery/index.php

Is has the populair lightbox effect, you can upload photos by .zip file and it has many other feautures. Besides all that you can customize the script easily to your needs. The only thing what bothers me everytime was that the control panel of the gallery was 'outside' of the control panel of CNR.
So i had to make an extra url in the option.mdu file of CNR so the client could access the admin of the gallery.
But from now on that is all history. My good friend Sidtheduck was the great man who created a plugin of the gallery for CNR.
All you have to do is, upload everything in the /plugins/ folder of CNR, activate it and include the gallery page into the page where you want to show the gallery. When you've activated the gallery in CNR, you also don't have to login again to manage the gallery. How bout that!
I'm so excited that this is possible from now on and i'm glad that we can share this to you guys. Finally i can do something for you all. But, all credits goes to Sid, the amazing Duck! Wink
At the moment we are tuning some things for better use

Also Sidtheduck created exclusively a random image module for the gallery to show images of the newest added gallery. This module isn't available in the original gallery download of Planetluc. So it's really, exclusive. However, the module has some bugs when using it on different type of servers. But it works properly on the servers we've been tested on, both on php4 and php5.

Exclamation Usage
================================================

Arrow Download the mygallery.zip

Arrow Extract the zip file.

Arrow Upload the mygallery folder, mygallery-manager.php in the plugin folder of CNR.

Arrow Upload mygallery-manager.ini into inc/lang/en/plugins/

Arrow Go to the 'Manage Plugins' located in the 'Options' section and activate MyGallery.

Arrow Go to Options and the gallery should reachable from there.

Arrow Go by a ftp client to you plugin/mygallery folder and chmod galleries.dat and log.dat.php with writing access 777.

Arrow Chmod als the folder images/ and images/_tmp to 777.

Arrow Include the gallery.inc.php file into any .php site by adding <? include("path_to_mygallery/gallery.inc.php");?> to your code (where 'path_to_mygallery' is to be changed to your needs). Now point your browser to the file where you included the script and you're done.

Arrow Same rule for the randomimage.php file. This file automaticly takes random images of the newest gallery. Include it the same way like the gallery above.

Arrow From the admin panel in CNR you can Add, Edit, Remove and Delete your galleries. Experiment with it. Don't get angry when it's not working at ones. Only check if the gallery is working on the page where you included the gallery. Don't preview the galleries from the admin panel. You will have path issues of the css file etc.

Arrow To customize your gallery look for some settings in the config.inc.php

Arrow To change the default template of the gallery, you have to edit templates.tpl Know what you're doing...

Arrow It's not necessary to change the login lines in config.inc.php When you're logged in CNR, you're automaticly logged in the admin section of MyGallery to.
To have a closer look of features and possibilities of the gallery, go to: planetluc.com/en/scripts_mygallery.php You'll find all ins and outs. Also there is a forum to place your questions about it.

================================================

Keep in mind that this plugin might not work for everybody because of the sensitivity for different types of servers. We haven't solved every issue that might happen. So keep checking from time to time in this topic for any updates.

CNR IS powerfull! Keep that in mind!

Dave and of course SidtheDuck.

I'm really looking forward to this one as well! Especially since I've used the myGallery script a few times already. I'm really anxious to see how you've integrated it. It would definitely make CNR my ultimate CMS Smile

Well, that's a strange issue we've never experienced. After we had activated the plugin and cleared the CNR cache, the plugin is visible in the options section. I don't know what's causing your problem then.
I only can say, follow the 'Usage' above step by step. It should work. At least the install, activation and it's appearing in the options.
If you're still having problems i should have a look at your site if that's possible?
It also could be a problem if you have the CNR in a subfolder so the paths won't responding in a correct way.
Try to play with the paths in the mygallery-manager.php file, located in your plugin folder.

I'm afraid the plugin doesn't result in Mygallery option showing in Options either. I cleared cache as well.

Why is that? What is happening? Confused
Seems that the plugin isn't ready for using. Though i have it running on three sites. Strange things going on...
Try to add this url in youor address bar:
Code:
http://www.yourdomain.com/yourCNR/index.php?mod=options&action=mygallery&mgstart=1

If this brings you to the gallery admin panel, it's installed ok. You only have to add a link in the Options by hand.
Let me know...

Option appears now Smile

One thing tho, I created a new gallery. Clicking on it and the images, brings http://www.mysite.com/cms/plugins/mygallery/images/3/batman_begins.jpg while it's located at http://www.mysite.com/admin/plugins/mygallery/images/3/batman_begins.jpg

So it's broken atm Surprised

Edit:

Fixed it in the config of mygallery, replacing cms with admin.

Will test it thoroughly tonight. Thnx

Good to hear it's working at this point.
I'm sure, when you're having some difficulties, most of them can be solved by changing details of the config.inc.php in the mygallery folder and/or the mygallery.php in the plugin folder.
But remember, don't test the gallery from the admin panel, but from the page where you included the gallery.
Good luck tonight.
