 MySQL vs. TextSQL on CuteNews.RU (My opinion + Guide)... |

Yo people.
Just wanted to share a quick thought from using TextSQL on my busy blog to converting to MySQL version.

I've had nothing but hell, and trouble. During high traffic, news.myd would delete. And commonly one of the files wouldn't get called. So users had to refresh. Finally the biggest problem was occasionally news and story files would erase to 0 bytes. IE: All data gone.
So I had to manually backup every night.
Finally after getting extremely frustrated, I came here to look for a solution. And came upon a "aha"!. That "aha" was to convert to MySQL.
Afterall, you'll never get your entire table deleted just like that with MySQL.
And I did it finally just 2 days ago from writing this! Results...

MySQL:

Blog is at least 200% faster. Especially visible during high traffic spikes of 20,000K+ visits a day.
Comments delete much faster. And news management is faster in general.
In overall: Convert to MySQL (if you haven't already) RIGHT NOW!

CONVERSION:
=========
Step 1: Backup your /data/db folder.
Step 2: Go to http://yourdomain.com/news/convert
Step 3: Choose "TextSQL to MySQL".
Step 4: Follow instructions. (obviously first create a database so you can enter it's details.)

(Download the file by FI-DD and unextract to /convert (overwriting the original "convert" folder").

i too think mysql if far more better than textsql.
i used to use original cutenews which has one and only option textsql
but one day all the comments in comments.txt file was deleted.. dunno how it became like that. may be due to heavy traffic or the large file size (i think there was more than 10 thousand comments posted but all were deleted and only 2000 comments were left... )
finally i got the solution... and tthat is one and only Cutenews.Ru
and the plus point.. is good support of you guyz..
especially FI-DD rocks.
