I'm pissed.. what do we do? Barter with them or something? Strike a deal? I mean come on it's completely pointless they should have that domain lol
oh well... It would have been a good domain for the forum. But of all pages it could go to, why that one!?

Weird, do you think the joomla people themselves did this? Or maybe CNR is an abbreviation for something else than just CuteNews.RU?

I don't know that's what I'm thinking. I doubt Joomla is intentionally trying to steal this domain from us or something.. or to stump the future growth of cutenews.ru but it is ironic ya know? It HAS to be something someone high up on the Joomla food chain had to have done though. It doesn't even add up though.. that's like us getting joomlaforums.com and pointing this forum there.. doesn't even add up. Or that even makes as much sense as buying scottdallas.com and putting a site together for david bowie. Random.

I wouldnt bother about it.
If it's meant to be a CNR forum... i wish them good luck.
I doubt the future knowledge and support over there that is giving here.

What does pisses me is the speed of this server.
It's freak'n slow sometimes. Posting a message takes a whole minute sometimes.
It will be a releave when it all moves to a server outside of Russia. Just for a better accessibility.
Is it an idea to collect some donations or what and to discuss with Fidd or Lexa or any other owner to switch?
i don't think this will cost a lot. The hosting is allready payed by.... who ever might be...
It's just an idea... but i'm really annoyed sometimes of the lack speed here.
And cutenewsru.com can have a nicer website too in my opinion. Also driven by... CNR and not by phpbb.

Well I've always tried to keep it open that I am willing to free hosting on my GoDaddy account forever. I'll always pay it and I don't want money to keep the forum up. It's not my call but yes the forums are slow sometimes for me too.. lately my internet has been so slow it hasn't much mattered ha  only 3 more days til I get my new internet! I get a free month of internet just for switching from dsl back to cable.
Oh no David Bowie wasn't related lol I was making a pointless point.

Hmm. I´m quite te expert transferring forums. There is enough space on the cutenewsru.com domain to host these forums. The speed there is perfect. Cutenewsru.com is hosted in a datacenter in Amsterdam/Holland..
I suggested it to FI-DD a while ago, but he didn't want it at the time, maybe now is a better time?
@D74: I think cutenewsru.com is driven by cnr, fi-dd told me that scott did that

Perhaps it's something to consider.. We'd all cry if it went down for some reason though. Then again, I always worry about Lexa paying the bill cause if the forum goes down for whatever reason, that's it. I don't know where to find any of you guys anywhere else. This website is one of the #1 most precious URL's I know in my head.

Yes it's true and that's flat file so real simple to slide over. I didn't have anything to do with cutenewsru.com which yes is a great domain.. what about adding forum.cutenewsru.com?

Wauw, cutenewsru hosted in amsterdam, just saw the whois.
That's great. Never payed attention to it, but there are actually two different domains. Hmm...
cutenewsru.com indeed is loading very fast. So yes, i vote to transfer the forum also to the .com domain.
And to give to main site of CNR a personal look, not the forum related vibe.
Hopefully Lexa and FI-DD are prepared to take this in consideration. Cos i have the feeling that CNR will be more populair everyday.
And a good host, website and fast forum are definitely a must-have.
And i should not think of a downtime of the forum either. This forum is so imporant for me. Most things i want to do with CNR are going pretty well, but it's those tiny snippets, some little hacks or extra code to add to get things work in a different way. My head will explode if i try to remember all those extra info, so yeah for me it's also very important that the forum keeps alive.
