Post How to work with Cutenews MySQL Reply with quote
Hey, I used the normal text Cutenews before and I really liked it. But I found out about this one, and now I'm using it. It's perfect except for the example template. I hate it! No matter what I do, if you click the "read more' button it shows you this absurt example and I don't get one thing of the PHP its saying. Why doesn't it works the same way as the normal cutenews? As soon as you click on the 'read more' link the rest of the news and the comment form will be shown underneath it. Is this possible?

Thank you very much for building this system and hopefully for your help.

So you made your own page but the links still go back to the example page?

Go to Options -> System settings -> Path to main page and enter the path to your own page.

Not exactly. I made my own template (you know, create template etc.) But with the normal CuteNews (I don't know if you know that) it's just your news on a page and when you click on the 'read more' link, the full story and the comments + commentform will be shown on the same page you include the news, understand? That's what I want. I only use this version because this version has MySQL and it offers you way more choices (poll systems, membersystems). But that isn't possible (I'm talking about the fully story and comments on the same page) is it?

Edit:

And why is the option of making templates there if you have to make an template with PHP? Is there an bigger help guide then just the readme?

Of course, it's possible. Smile

Here are the short stories: http://english.cutenews.ru/cuteru/example/

Then click on "Read..." and you will see the full story with the comment form below it: http://english.cutenews.ru/cuteru/example/2006/02/14/the-principles-of-european-contract-law.html

What do you mean with "make a template with PHP"? The creation of templates with CuteNews.RU and Cutenews are exactly the same. Only the template tags have slightly changed so you can't use a Cutenews template in CuteNews.RU without modifying it.

Yes, but I mean without that example template, wich leads me to my next problem.

I mean. If you use the functions 'create an new template', wich I did. And you say when you include the news that you want to use that template. Why is he constantly using the example template. I don't want that template, and it's killing me because I don't understand how to make an new template that works the same way as CuteNews.

What do you exactly mean by modify it?

You make a mistake somewhere.

A link to your page would help me solving the problem.

I think you've put the include code in the wrong file.

You have to put the include code in home.php:

"hxxp://www.topseries.nl/theoc/home.php"

And in Options -> System settings -> Path to main page you have to insert "hxxp://www.topseries.nl/theoc/home.php" too.

You can create other pages but they have to be in the main cutenews directory.

Check out my gallery on the demo page. I'm using gallery.php which is in the main cutenews directory.

The links are something like this: http://english.cutenews.ru/cuteru/example/sailing-boat.htm

So check out the gallery template and the urls.ini to find out how I made it.
