 EGC Games using Cutenews.RU |

Hi there.
We're a team of experts focusing on all the latest news in the video games industry and we share our knowledge by means of a new gaming website. We've been using Cutenews.RU as our CMS ever since our official launch in December 2007.

After further investigation on the matter, EGC Games was not created with the use of cute news ru as it was created with the open source version of cute news and therefore there is no copyright issue. You can remove this thread if you wish as, eventually, it has nothing to do with cute news ru specifically.
Advice for the future: Ask for details before you ironically start accussing people of violation of copyrights.

I am posting to make things clearer cause elchrys is not coder and does not know some things. Egcgames uses some core functions of cutenews and cutenews.ru. As we know, cutenews.ru is a modified version of cutenews. Egcgames is a completely new version based on some core functions of cutenews in general. It has a different approach in administration and user side. But it is developed for egcgames use under the GNU license. Sometime, when ready, we'll post the source code of this new script public in order to help cutenews community.
We have not violated in any case GNU general public license as we are very aware of it during the last years. We have made a completely new script using some functions of older open source scripts and we made our own distribution under GNU general public license. We did not change GNU license in any case and script remains open source. We are aware that using even parts of open source scripts, license must remain exactly the same. And we know that "copyleft" is the right term for open source community and not "copyright".

You are right. My 2 friends above are not coders and they just saw some files or readmes mentioning cutenews.ru. So they thought that it would be nice idea to post here.
Afterwards, they called me and i explained them exactly what is the script they are using.
Hope there is no misunderstanding. I hope u like our website anyway

Woah those are some fighting words. I just can't figure out why it's 'ironic'? When has something similar happened? Diabolically would have been a cool adjective.
