Post Dream-Library.com - Dream Sharing Project Reply with quote
I decided to make a dream sharing project. Basically this is a site dedicated to the worlds dreams. I made an area to capture all sorts of different types of dreams and categorize them with cutenews.ru so people can read and be entertained by peoples dreams. You can also write your dreams at http://www.dream-library.com/write.php

I'm pretty happy with the way the site came out and everything. The backgrounds that make up the site were made with my digital camera. I took a picture of a rusty railing for the top banner (looks more like a mountain than a railing) and the yellow grainy background that the text sits on top of is the side of a television that's been sitting out in the rain and show for the past 5 months.

So, here it is.. you're the first to see it since I haven't shown or talked about it to anyone since I bought the domain and started working on it a week ago.

Dream-Library.com

The main page uses FI-DD's new cloud! I love how it functions and works. Anyone can feel free to add their dreams anytime they want.

Thanks everyone that has helped make cutenews.ru such an amazing script! This is my new favorite project that I have up and running and I can't wait to see it grow. It would be nothing without cutenews.ru Smile

Hey Scott,

You may want to look into these couple of issues:

1. If you submit a blank dream, it shows this as the message:

Quote:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/s/c/o/scodal/html/dream-library/write/mailer.php on line 15

Your dream has successfully recorded in our library. We will review your dream and add it as soon as possible. If you supplied your email you should recieve an email shortly with a link to your dream submission on our site.

2. If you submit a blank form from the Contact page, it sends the message through successfully (sorry in advanced for the blank e-mails!)

Awesome Scott. Thumbs up (Y)

You do a great job lately using CuteNews. Hope ill get there some day, damn!

Was wondering... are you using many individual pages, prophetic.php, prophetic-mostread.php, lucid.php etc

Or did you just used one single page? I'm asking that because i'm curious how you'd set up the active buttons.

Did you set every single page with that particulair subject on the button, to active or is it controlled by your .css

Hope you can follow me Wink

No, that's quite alright. Very nice of you to test things out for me Smile I would have never known that error exists. I still don't know what to do about it. Even though it displays the error.. it still shows up in my inbox.

D72, it is all separate PHP files split a bajillion times. I make the buttons changing by cutting out the entire code for the buttons on the left side of the page into one separate PHP file. Then I change the background colors to make it look activated and save it as a separate file. When you're on say 'prohpetic.php' I include 'buttons-prophetic.php' and I know in that file the color is different to reflect that you're on this page... but when you're just on index.php there's no colors that need to be highlighted so that's just the generic 'buttons.php' file.

For each page on the side there is a separate PHP include for cutenews.ru to tell it how and what to pull from the database. I just find it easier that way.. plus I get to do separate meta and title tags for SEO.. although FI-DD has told me of a much easier way to do it... I just don't remember how.

The problem with my sites is that they end up being sometimes hundreds of files. Dream-library.com is 189 files.. but that includes the image files too.

Lol why use it like that?

just use a $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] to determine what page you are on.

So for instance your menu ->

Code:
<ul>

<li class="<? if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/cat1.php'){echo "active;} else { echo "nonactive";} ?>">cat 1</li>

<li class="<? if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/cat2.php'){echo "active;} else { echo "nonactive";} ?>">cat 2</li>

<li class="<? if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/cat3.php'){echo "active;} else { echo "nonactive";} ?>">cat 3</li>

<li class="<? if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/cat4.php'){echo "active;} else { echo "nonactive";} ?>">cat 4</li>

<li class="<? if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/cat5.php'){echo "active;} else { echo "nonactive";} ?>">cat 5</li>

</ul>

much more simple Wink

OMG Confused

Scott you get yourself a lot of work to have active buttons like this way.

189 pages... gees...

But i know what you mean, i do it the same way, only not with that much pages haha, no way! Laughing

To much work! But i do like the way when buttons are high lighted active to let visitors see on what page they are.

Gives something extra on a site in my opinion.

Ramon i was asking myself lately how i could create active buttons by php.

Thanks for this, gonna try this one soon. It's a very interesting thing for me Smile

This forum is so usefull... realy like it here Very Happy
