Ha.. yeah I always change the smiley names.. mostly for Google Adsense sake. They'll ruin your ads if they find swears in your code apparently. What I mean by ruin is send less accurate or no ads making you no money. By, that's just what someone told me.. I could be wrong. But, Google is smart so I figure there might be some validity to that..
Also, I always have thousands of articles in my flat file database and I never have a problem on CNR 2.5.4 or cutephp's version. I just wanted to add that real fast.

CONVERT convert convert, i had hundreds in a txtsql and someone erased them all. There seems to be an exploit, its been done several times after i thought i had fixed the hole. Id say to convert to mysql, and keep current backups.

you're probably right.. now that i think about it.. storing it the way it does flat file is very very vulnerable. im going to switch right now.

i`m going crazy ?! 
this script isn`t full english translated. not even the HELP ( i think that help is verry important ! )
is there someone, on this BIG BIG world of WWW wich has a full english translated version of this script ?
i trited to translate it by my self but is imposible. 
please help.
(ps: if there is a script wich is like this one please name it  ... i belive that isn`t cuphp.com is lower than this one )

CuteNews.ru should come up almost 100% english but if you're using Strawberry you'll want to translate the .ini files in the lang directory if you can't see the english.

siamend, remove .htaccess files, worked for me on xampp.
I have a few questions though, I see this is continuation on cutenews 1.3.6, under gnu? Very nice work on this, the worst thing cutephp did was add that ugly forced link. I'm not against promoting software and scripts I use but when it doesn't flow with the page and there's no freedom to do so, I don't use it'
Anyway, I have a question, I am getting ready to use / install this script but before I did I looked the the strawberry section,

Would be a mistake to install this and to strawberry correct, and if this is true perhaps add notice to this in original post of this thread?

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I still use cutenews.ru on all my projects mainly because there's still great and very active support and lots of plug-ins made for it.. however Strawberry is nice too. Unfortunately they both have different features. Both will outperform cutephp's cutenews though
One of the main reasons I don't use Strawberry is that my server won't translate it to english after installation and apparently many users have been having this trouble so.. it's something you'll probably have to experiment with a little to figure out which works best for you.

I have a couple more questions if you don't mind me asking.
1. .htaccess in root directory was preventing me from installing/seeing the directory so I deleted it, I am using a data base but I want to make sure this directory is secure... did you encounter this problem?
2. I've read that someone has integrated this script with phpbb, but the thread discussions are in another language "other then English", but I have seen nothing more on this subject.
Well, there is an older mod written for cutenews but there was major flaw where users changed there passwords in the forum and changes where not applied to cutenews. I guess that this mod simply used registration form to register new users to but systems but didn't really integrate. The nicest way I can think of is where cutenews.ru checks phpbb user data when posting, commenting ect.
Have you any further information to archive what I'm describing, perhaps its in development somewhere?

No I didn't have any problems with that. Is it working now that you deleted the file?

I think I read that same thread but I have since then become too frustrated with the idea and PHPBB anyways so I've given up on this. I don't know if anyone has successfully figured out a 100% way to integrate the two. I do know that cutenews.ru can be used as a forum.. for example.. this user is using cutenews.ru as his sites forum:

With the new comments pagination hack from FI-DD this should make your sites forum look really fancy if you took the time to customize it properly.
This would allow you to run your main site and forum all with one database and cutenews.ru at the same time.
